Hut Fix It & Clean It today (Sunday, 2/21/2021)!!

Posted on Feb 20 2021 - 10:30pm
We are holding a Scout Hut fix & Clean it day today, Sunday the 21st from 1 - 4 PM.   The plan will be to tend to various items on the Scout Hut that have been wearing down over the last couple years and need attention including:
- new boards cut and painted to replace the weathered door jambs around the door and garage doors
- Install a minor gutter and drip edge fixes as needed
- Light electrical fixes on a couple of outdoor and indoor fixtures.
- More items will likely be addressed as well
Additionally, there will be some scouts and parents tending to the inside for additional organizational and cleaning as needed.  We will have a Hut Cleaning lead on the inside, while I organize those helping on the outside.  I will bring all tools and supplies needed to fix the Scout hut but a pair of work gloves might be useful just in case.
Please go to TeamSnap and click "Going" or "Maybe" or "No" for your availability so we have an idea of attendance.

Spring Break Hiking Trip to Devil's Den State Park in the Ozark Mountains, March 13-17

Posted on Feb 20 2021 - 10:27pm

Join us for some beautiful hiking in the Ozark Mountains!

Scouts 14 and older have the option to backpack the 15-mile loop in the park. Great preparation and "shakeout" for Philmont.

Scouts younger than 14 will have the chance to take several day hikes ranging from 0.5 to 5 miles around the park.

This is a great chance to learn and improve your backpacking skills. Please note: We have male adult leaders signed up, but in order to participate we will need at least one female adult leader on this trip.

Destination: Devil's Den State Park, 11333 West Arkansas Hwy. 74, West Fork, AR 72774, https://www.arkansasstateparks.com/parks/devils-den-state-park

Leave Saturday March 13, 2021
Return Wednesday March 17, 2021

It's a 5-hour drive to the park, and families will have to drive or coordinate with other families for transportation.

For more information and to confirm your spot, please email Mr. Franklin at BramFranklin@gmail.com.

Scout Sunday at Arapaho United Methodist Church (2/14/2021)

Posted on Feb 13 2021 - 1:41pm

The 12th point of the Scout Law says "A Scout is Reverent," and Scout Sunday (or Scout Sabbath, or Scout Jumuah) offers an opportunity for Scouts to demonstrate their faith, while also celebrating the Anniversary of Scouting in America (February 8, 1910).

Scout Sunday is designated as the second Sunday in February in the United Methodist Church, and T444 would typically:

  1. Serve as ushers during AUMC's 11:00 am service; and
  2. Say a few words of thanks to our host organization

Because of the current pandemic risk level, AUMC is not holding in-person services at this time, so our participation this year will be 100% virtual.

You are welcome to watch the 11:00 "Scout Sunday" virtual service on 2/14/21. You can view on either:

A great big thank you to Katrina Gray, Alan Melson, Colin Melson, and Jack Melson for coordinating and creating the content from T444!

Scouting for Food - A Scout is Helpful

Posted on Feb 8 2021 - 3:07pm

February is the Anniversary of Scouting in the United States and designated "Good Turn Month" in Circle Ten Council.

In normal years, local Scouts collect thousands of pounds of food for Network of Community Ministries. Due to the pandemic, the number of clients the food pantry is serving has expanded greatly, but it is not possible at this time for Scouts to safely canvass the neighborhoods for food donations.

This year, we have created a T444 virtual food drive through Souper Bowl of Caring (tacklehunger.org) to benefit Network of Community Ministries:

Please work with your Scouts to determine how your family will support this service project, and don't forget to share it with your family and your neighbors!

Thank you for helping our Scouts make a difference in the lives of families in our community.
